Join We BE Walkin’ and Chesapeake Conservancy for a fall day walk on Maryland's Eastern Shore, exploring the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park. Registration is required for attendance. 

Event Highlights:

  • Ranger-led tour of the:
    • Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park visitor center/museum
    • Blackwater Refuge trail 
    • Visitor Center, and
    • Museum.
  • 6-mile easy/moderate trail walk

Logistics:

  • Transportation: Transportation choice must be indicated during registration.
    • Carpooling: We strongly recommend carpooling
    • Personal Vehicles: If driving separately, please note that parking at the visitor center may be limited.

Know Before You Go:

  • Weather: Dress for outdoor activities and check the forecast. Layers are recommended for fall weather.
  • Footwear: Comfortable walking shoes are a must.
  • Accessibility: The Visitor Center and immediate surroundings are wheelchair accessible. Trail accessibility varies.
  • Leave No Trace: Help preserve the park by carrying out what you bring in.
  • Pets: No pets allowed with the exception of service animals.

We BE Walkin' was founded in 2022 by Brittney and Esthanette to center the introduction Black, Brown, Indigenous, People of Color to nature and encourage health and wellness while creating experiences for people to facilitate curiosity, create community, and cultivate collaboration.

Join the Chesapeake Conservancy for Harriet Tubman as a Naturalist webinar as they discuss Harriet Tubman's expertise as a naturalist, highlighting her deep understanding of flora and fauna, astronomy, herbal medicine, and geography of the Chesapeake Region. Deanna Mitchell will guide participants through historical insights, to examine how Tubman's natural skills were essential not only for her survival but also for her remarkable legacy as a conductor of liberation.
