This event will feature an insightful discussions with Lakeisha Poole, founder of Black Virtual Career Fair and Black Talent Database and Dr. Tiffany Brown, DNP, FNP, a dedicated healthcare professional specializing in family practice.
Dr. Tiffany Brown, DNP, FNP, is a dedicated nurse practitioner who has specialized in Oncology for 22 years of her 24 years in the nursing field. She received her advanced education at USF and completed the duo Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) programs. Dr. Brown is committed to providing the highest level of care to her patients by staying abreast to the latest treatments and management in cancer care. She is a member of the National Black Nurses Association and serves as Treasurer of the Silicon Valley Black Nurses Association. It is her mission to advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare and she does this as a nurse practitioner, mentor, teacher, and podcaster.
In the inaugural episode of the 'You Belong In Here: A Black Healthcare Perspectives' podcast, Dr. Brown shares her personal journey as a nurse and the challenges of facing racism in the healthcare profession. She discusses her motivations for starting the podcast, the impact of racism on mental health, and the importance of confronting both individual and systemic racism in nursing. The episode aims to empower listeners by sharing personal stories and encouraging open discussions about racial disparities in healthcare.
