On November 1, 2024 from 6pm-10pm, Chef Natelege Bryant of Virginia and Co, and James Beard Nominee Pitmaster Ryan Mitchell are teaming up to bring you Roots and Smoke: A Field-to-Fork Celebration of Legacy & BBQ.
Food has long been a way to show love, reflect cultural identity, and create connections that span generations. Yet, the story of Black folks is often fragmented, lost, or destroyed, leaving us uncertain about our ROOTS. Traditionally confined to serving others, we're now focused on serving each other.
This five-star culinary experience celebrates tradition and embodies true hospitality, paying tribute to grandparents like Doretha, who blesses the table with her hand held high, and Saluda, the stylish Auntie who ventured to the Big City but stayed connected to her roots. These stories remind us that passing down our heritage is a shared responsibility—and this time, we do so through the art of SMOKE.
