Last year at this time, I was on my spoken word album the truth. the way. the life. Grammy Awards Contender campaign. Now, I am bringing my debut book, an anthology of poetry entitled, n'nocent RAGE to Las Vegas for a A Special Spoken Word Performance. After living on the westcoast in LA for seventeen-years, I had to move back to my hometown Chicago last year. The rudiment of my creative writing journey. When the city's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) emailed me on January 6, 2023, asking me to apply for Chicago's Inaugural Poet Laureate position. I became a Nominee though I was not I appointed; I was disappointed. Nonetheless, I decided to replant my literary roots in Chicago. As I had been pitching the idea and cultural position to the mayor’s office in seeking to become Poet Laureate of Chicago since 1997. Wherein, I went to study abroad in a Master of Literature Program in Oxford, England. Writing poetry empowered me to write, meet and forgive my younger brother, Lemont's killers. I wrote and released my debut book, an anthology of poetry entitled n'nocent RAGE on January 11, 1999 seven-years after Lemont sacrificed his life to save his friend's life.  Writing poetry saved my life!!!
