#TheSunTour is The Soul Vortex's first tour through the midwest where they will be performing in MI, IN, MO, and IL to promote their latest vinyl record, LIVE AT THE PROMONTORY.

Our show will be hosted by smooth soul singer and renaissance man, Darnell Kendricks.

Sam Thousand first performed in Detroit at the The Smooth Soul Cafe in 2017 hosted by Darnell Kendricks. Since then, he has frequented the scene on an annual basis to perfrom solo or alongside musicians from Detroit's vibrant scene. In Apr'24 Sam Thousand has the opportunity to bring a bigger piece of Chicago with him as he stops through Detroit with his home team band from Chicago, The Soul Vortex.

‘The Soul Vortex’ has been a tight-knit group since 2017 where they cut their teeth at a premier speakeasy in Chicago called The California Clipper, where they held a monthly residency that guaranteed a lively crowd and high vibes. Riding a tidal wave of momentum, the band recorded a live album in Dec'19, but its release was severely halted by the pandemic.

In the summer of 2023, ‘The Soul Vortex’ released its debut album, recorded LIVE at The Promontory in Hyde Park, Chicago.
