Ujima Jam Sessions (www.ourspaceworld.org) are farmer-focused engagements that are virtual or in-person and focused on: sharing information (guest speakers), sharing resources, learning together, and helping each other out on our farms (think all-hands work days, with refreshments and/or on-farm demos from experts).

Launched in 2022 as peer learning circles to better meet the needs of Black and other underserved beginning farmers in Future Harvest's Beginning Farmer Training Program, Ujima Jams are now a farmer-led initiative supported by www.ourspaceworld.org.

Join us at Fort Lincoln to support the Seniors Food Insecurity project! This project came about in 2023 when Farmer Michele noticed two senior housing buildings on Bladensburg Road in Northeast DC. Her initial thought was, how can I serve these seniors by delivering fresh produce from A Heart 4 People Farm in Upper Marlboro? Soon after, Farmer Michele applied for grant funds to turn the land located at the Theodore Hagans Cultural Center into a farm that would serve the entire senior community at Fort Lincoln. Farmer Michele received funding to complete Phase 1 of the project which consists of six raised beds that will be used to grow produce along with the existing six beds. At this jam session, we expect to be helping Farmer Michele complete fall tasks and celebrate the evolution of this project.
