Summary
Ujima Jam Sessions (www.ourspaceworld.org) are farmer-focused engagements that are virtual or in-person and focused on: sharing information (guest speakers), sharing resources, learning together, and helping each other out on our farms (think all-hands work days, with refreshments and/or on-farm demos from experts).
Launched in 2022 as peer learning circles to better meet the needs of Black and other underserved beginning farmers in Future Harvest's Beginning Farmer Training Program, Ujima Jams are now a farmer-led initiative supported by www.ourspaceworld.org.
Join us at WoodBox Farm for a day of learning and communal work! WoodBox is a 1/4 acre small farm in Alexandria, Virginia that produces seasonal fruits and vegetables utilizing environmentally friendly/regenerative practices. The farm launched in 2018 as an incubator that focuses on soil health, multigenerational outreach and community engagement. WoodBox is currently stewarded by Marcus Roberson, Keisha Napper, and Angie French. At this jam, we expect to be prepping for cover crop, organizing farm tools and harvesting watermelons.
