Lyft Up: A Solidarity Ride For Justice
WHAT: We are planning a ride in solidarity for unity and for justice. In light of the ongoing issues Black men and women are facing in our cities, we want to bring people together to show support, understanding, and solidarity for each other. We plan to both acknowledge our losses as a community and celebrate Black lives. We aim to amplify our collective voices (Black folks and allies) to continue to call attention to the issues we face here and elsewhere.
In partnership with event hosts Streets Calling Bike Club & M.R Events & Consulting, Lyft will be providing bikes to those who would like to be involved but would not otherwise be able to for lack of bikes.
Additionally, at the conclusion of the ride, there will be resource stations available for attendees followed by a brief rally and program. The program will include performances from local artists, paintings from local visual artists and remarks from various speakers addressing current issues and events. We will not go back to normal, we will continue to #SayTheirNames, and remain vigilant in the effort for social, economic, and racial justice.
Note: The bike ride will start at 12pm. The rally starts at 1pm. No bike? No worries! Divvy will be providing bikes. If you don’t want to participate in the bike ride, you can still partake in the rally!
All attendees will be required to wear a mask when not riding and all masks must be worn at ending point of the solidarity ride.
