Summary
Welcome to Doula's Kitchen, where comfort food meets culture and community connectedness. Drawing inspiration from my southern roots in Virginia and North Carolina, as well as my mother's Korean influences and my diverse extended family, I bring a unique blend of flavors to every dish I create.
- Dionne McDonald
The "Suns Out Buns Out" pop-up experience by Doula’s Kitchen is a fun summer menu featuring a variety of Korean-ingluenced Bao (bun) options with exciting, multi-ethnic flavor options like Nashville Hot Fried Soft Shell Crab, Jamaican Oxtail, and Lemongrass Seitan. Each bao order comes with Soy Ginger Red Cabbage. For dessert, there's a Vanilla Cardamom Spice Cake with coconut glaze, powdered sugar, and crushed pistachios available, with the option to add vanilla ice cream. (VG) (Contains Nuts)

Known for my signature glass noodle bowls, Doula's Kitchen has been featured in The Washingtonian's "50 Great Dates" for our pop-up events at local restaurants like Thirsty Crow, Hill Prince, Bull Bar, and 18th Street Lounge.
In 2023, I was honored to be selected as the resident chef at Shanklin Hall, one of DC’s newest social clubs. This opportunity allowed me to further develop my culinary skills and share my passion for food with a wider audience. 2024 continues to take Doula’s Kitchen on a delicious journey, exploring the intersection of food, culture, and community.
