DC will be held during Black History Month on Sunday, February18th at the Holiday Inn Washington Capitol, located at 550 C Street, S.W. in the Congressional Ballroom, Washington, DC 20024—-United States. Natural Hair Fest is a convention and celebration of natural beauty and proper regimens for hair and scalp maintenance through live product demonstrations, moderated discussions, and special guest appearances. Natural Hair Fest DC Metro provides a supportive platform for those who embrace hair in its natural state, and also promotes the use of haircare and skincare regimens that contain natural, organic and vegan ingredients. This will be the first event of the year, which serves as the kick off for the Natural Hair Fest 2024 Tour de Naturelle’. Natural Hair Fest is a road show that allows emerging brands to engage new customers by way of face-to-face, in-person and online connections in 24 distinct markets across the United States.

Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair. This is the impetus behind the CROWN Act, the brainchild of State Senator Holly J. Mitchell of California. The CROWN Act became the first legislation passed at the state level in the United States that prohibits discrimination based on hairstyle and hair texture. This legislature protects the rights of Americans to embrace their natural hair, allowing all to wear styles such as braids, locs, twists, and knots in the workplace and public schools. The District of Columbia set at the center of two states that have signed the CROWN Act into law, Maryland and Virginia; furthermore, the states of Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas and Washington have all signed the CROWN Act into law.

Having beautiful natural hair means having a healthy scalp, too. Since 2015, Natural Hair Fest has curated experiences centered around the natural hair community. The event boasts a full day of programming on the main stage to educate consumers and members of the beauty industry through presentations explaining the history of natural haircare, the nuances of haircare products, and the associated risks involved in chemical services.

“We promote self-love, self-care, health, wellness, and healthy hair and scalp irrespective of type or texture. We want everyone to embrace their natural hair unconditionally,” says Mark David Carter, founder of Natural Hair Fest Events and show producer/director of the 2024 Tour de Naturelle’. As we make our rounds across the country, we're excite to the opportunity to celebrate with industry experts and some of the most amazing products in Washington, DC. You're invited to join us as we create a wonderful, immersive experience adjacent to National Mall, just moments away from the White House and the Washington Monument.”

Certain misconceptions as it relates to natural hair are still quite common around the globe. Natural Hair Fest functions to achieve these objectives:

  • Dispel misconceptions about Natural Hair;
  • Support those who feel challenged when caring for corse, thicker, fuller hair;
  • Help correct bad habits that lead to tangles, breakage, and hair damage;
  • Offer solutions for disorders of the hair and scalp;
  • Create a collaborative dialogue with industry experts on best practices and the benefits of natural hair;
  • Provide an open forum for Natural Hair stylists to showcase their talents, techniques, and
    services;
  • Provide a specialty store styled marketplace dedicated to the care and maintenance of healthy Natural Hair.

MarkDavid says, “All hair is good hair. We have to love our roots and our follicles! We want our guests to leave feeling beautiful and empowered. We bring experts from around the country to guide naturals and natural hair care professionals. We are in full support of those who aim to look their very best and understand the need to value their health and wellbeing. Guest with relaxed and color-treated hair can also benefit from the use of products with natural and organic ingredients. Everyone who wants to learn the proper way to care for their hair and scalp is encouraged to attend.”

Natural Hair Fest DC Metro creates an open, multicultural platform where members of the general public, consumers and shoppers can meet professionals, mix, and mingle. This is an in-person event, where hair braiders, barbers, locticians, hair weaving experts, product distributers, salon owners, fashion and beauty stylists, estheticians, influencers and like-minded professionals can network with each other and potential clients and gain valuable, long-lasting omni-directional takeaways.

More than 25 vendors will exhibit at Natural Hair Fest in Washigton, DC; where guests will have an opportunity to interact with some of their favorite local small businesses and merchants from other cites abroad. Attendees can use this as an opportunity to have a face to face with the makers of newly released hair and skin care lines of product, immerse their senses with the actual items where they are able to smell, feel and look at the products in-person, and customers can discuss the latest trends in the market as it relates to the natural hair care profession. The natural hair community desires to support local entrepreneurs, find exclusive beauty products, and receive introductions to merchandise from around the country.

“Natural Hair Fest is coming to the DC Metropolitan Area and will be downtown on Sunday, February 18th. And when we get there, Keith McKay, a licensed Barbering Instructor and Master Barber, will share his vast knowledge of the field and techniques, and Ansylla Ramsey, a trilingual, Web 3 Educator will help Beauty Industry Professionals (non-techies) in the DMV understand Crypto, Blockchain and Web 3,” says Mark David.

“We want everyone to celebrate their natural hair unconditionally. So, Black History Month is perfect timing to celebrate in downtown DC, the first leg of the Festival's 24 city "Tour de Naturelle," which features a marketplace of unique vendors that offers products and services that compliment natural, spiritual lifestyle choices. We will be moments away from some of best attractions the nation's capital has to offer, as we celebrate Black History."

Don't forget the fun, excitement, education and networking begin Sunday, February 18th, at the HOLIDAY INN WASHINGTON CAPITOL located at 550 C Street, SW in the Congressional Ballroom. Beauty industry professionals, freelancers, students, and consumers are all invited to the ultimate networking opportunity with the natural hair community. Support festival vendors.
